Since the trending topic this week has been Melania Trump plagiarizing Michelle Obama’s speech, it got me thinking about a theme I’ve been planning to write about for some time – designers copying each other in the world of fashion.
Steve Madden is one of the most popular budget brands on the footwear and accessory market. Most of us probably have at least one pair of his shoes in our closets. Yet, every time I visit his boutique I can’t help but experience a deja vu. I know I’ve seen all these shoes somewhere already, with a more inflated price tag! Yes, all designers copy each other, fashion goes in circles and it’s nearly impossible to create something groundbreaking these days. But Steve Madden has taken copycatting to a whole new level.
Below are some examples.
