April is that weird time of the year when you are somewhere between still wearing UGGs and flirting with the idea of putting on flip flops. Oftentimes, your days and outfits are being planned around the weather forecast, with several options laid out, because you just never know how hot or cold it might get! Thankfully, you can finally put away your winter coats and heavy sweaters, but it still isn’t exactly t-shirt season yet. So what you really need now is a cool spring jacket (or two, or five… 🙂 ) But since a jacket is more or less an investment piece and can break or make an outfit, let’s take a close look at what’s in style right now.
1. Denim Spring Jacket
Denim jackets are the main focus of this season with so many styles and options available. Distressed, embroidered, dyed, painted on or embellished, they are a must have for every fashionista’s closet this spring. Look for a cropped one to wear with dresses or for an oversized one to pair with jeans or shorts. Check some of the options I compiled for you below:
Self-expression is in fashion this year. All kinds of slogans and images are popping up in the most unexpected places, the favorite one being the back of a jacket, like some of the ones I posted below. Don’t be afraid to pick a statement that fits your personality and style and wear it proudly!
I won’t be terribly original if I said that pastels are in style for spring. Nevertheless, they are a much welcomed break after the black, navy and camo shades of winter and deserve a separate mention. The soft colors like beige, light pink and mint are a sign spring is truly in the air!
Going hand in hand with pastels, lace is another popular trend for spring, seen in all types of garments including jackets. It was even a big part of Victoria Beckham’s collection for Target (see the mint-colored jacket below from that collection)
5. Velvet Spring Jacket
Although not the most common choice for April, velvet has been a big hit this year and even became incorporated in spring jackets. For example, a velvet bomber is a great choice for breezy spring evenings, warm and cozy yet trendy enough to compliment your night-out outfits. A velvet tuxedo jacket is another great closet staple that will serve you well this year and into the next few seasons.
Bombers are perfect for spring as they are warm enough without being too heavy. They are right on trend and can be spotted on many street fashion bloggers. Take a look below for some of the best selling styles:
One of the most common requests I get from my followers and customers is to find them a stylish draped coat or jacket. The reason this style is so hard to find is because they sell out so quickly. So I put together a few really cool option below. Grab them quickly while they are still in stock!
